"Harmsworth Trophy Challenge"

Winner: U-4 Miss Great Lakes II (Driver: Doug Brown)
In one of the more elaborate and unique Casper race courses ever built, the 2012 Harmsworth was one to remember. Doug Brown and his "U-4 Miss Great Lakes II" pulled out on top in a steller comeback upset of Kristy Laws' "U-6 Miss Frosted Flakes". It took Doug 2 consecutive victories to knock off the "Frosted Flakes", as it was undefeated at that point (having already beaten the "Great Lakes II" in an earlier head-to-head matchup). This is Doug's 3rd Harmsworth Trophy victory in his Casper racing career.
Tatum Mohagen's "U-6 Miss Madison" looked tough all day, but a blown motor prior to it's matchup with the above mentioned "Frosted Flakes" put the Madison's future in jeapardy. Gary Laws quickly pulled the "Miss Madison" into the pits and began the process of swapping out motors in time to attempt a restart. The repairs were successful (mostly), but the "Miss Madison" ending up losing it's next two races regardless.......eliminating it from contention. Tatum's other boat (the WSU Cougars) was a contender all day as well, eventually being eliminated by the eventual winner "Miss Great Lakes II".
Ed Glenn had the surpise hull for the day, as his Van's PX was the Cinderella of the tournement, lasting longer than anyone had expected (4th round).
The course itself consisted of 12 turns (enter/exit) total, making this a very narrow margin for error course. What took forever to build the day before, was well worth it come race day. Up next, "Hydro Fever" at the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum on May 26th.
